WHEN I WAS A
10-YEAR-OLD GIRL ...
One day while I was watching a kids TV channel, in the ad spot I saw a call for children to join an international youth climate summit – probably it was UN Youth Summit – and to give a speech about environment protection. I don’t remember the name of the event or any details, but I remember the feeling and the following action: I immediately started to think about the topic, and drafted a speech in my mind. But after a while I stopped and I felt powerless and was very disappointed, because I didn’t speak in English, thus eventually I could not apply and speak up…
As I was growing up, this advocator role was getting stronger and stronger in me: speaking up for, defending or representing others in my private life. Then I ended up in the field of communications in my professional life.
Then I have absolutely found myself in the communication. Being it in my private life, pro bono or business activities, using the power of communication has become very important for me – the power of everyday conversation, public speaking, marketing, PR and brand building. Using it for educational, inspirational and game-changing purposes has become my everyday driver.
I do believe in the power of communication. Everybody has a responsibility to use it for good goals, build his/her life, business and brand with purpose, influence any minor or major cause by spreading the word, walking the talk and making a positive impact. It is a must-have to building anything and to achieving any goals, be them anywhere in your life. If you want to build a business or a brand, you must embrace it, since you will often need it.
For me persistence has an extra importance, too. I’m convinced, if my talent is not enough, I can win with my hard work and persistence. I can compensate everything by taking the extra mile and by never giving up. And so can you.
In a service-based business, especially in a consultancy, for me it is obvious that I handle my clients’ businesses, brands, problems and goals as they would be mine – responsibly, proactively and carefully.
This approach is required from my cooperating partners, as well as from my clients, since at the end it is a teamwork, so collective actions and collective ownership are essential.
